Mark Lunt: blue through & through

Mark Lunt: blue through & through

Mark Lunt, an Evertonian through and through, has created matchday rituals with his younger brother who he thanks for introducing the love of the Toffees to him.

From family, friends and all the club's history - Mark's love for the blues is clear.

Becoming an Evertonian wasn’t really a choice for me—it was destiny. My brother was already a passionate Everton fan, and from as early as I can remember, I followed in his footsteps. It just felt right. Everton wasn’t just a team I supported; it was the team that chose me.

For me, Everton is everything. I eat, sleep, breathe, and bleed blue. I genuinely can’t imagine life without them. My world revolves around this club in ways I often don’t even notice—but outsiders do. Walk into my house, and you’ll find Everton everywhere. Shirts, scarves, memorabilia—everywhere you look, there’s a piece of the club that means so much to me. Friends may come and go, but Everton will always remain. Being part of this huge and privileged family of Blues is something I cherish every single day.

My matchday routine is a longstanding tradition. Before every home game, my younger brother and I head to Gyros Pizza and Kebab. It’s become our thing, our way of building up to those 90 minutes at Goodison Park. There’s something special about the rituals of football, the little traditions that connect you to the club and the people who share the same passion.

One of my favourite Everton memories happened a few years ago when I had the incredible opportunity to visit Finch Farm. At the time, Yerry Mina was playing for the club, and during a small game, I managed to score a goal. What happened next is something I’ll never forget—Mina jumped on me, celebrating as if we had just won a cup final. I had his name on the back of my shirt, and he was buzzing to see it. He even gave me his training top. It was one of those surreal moments that make supporting this club so special.

If I could relive any Everton moment, it would be Kevin Campbell’s iconic goal at Anfield in 1999. That win, that feeling, that moment—it’s etched in my mind forever. But my absolute favourite memory? Tim Cahill’s goal against Liverpool at Goodison in the 2005/06 season. The passion, the atmosphere, the sheer joy—nothing comes close to moments like that.

Everton isn’t just a football club to me. It’s family, it’s history, it’s identity. It’s the one constant in life, through every high and low. And as we prepare to say goodbye to Goodison Park, I know one thing for sure—wherever Everton goes, we go. Because once you’re a Blue, you’re a Blue for life.
