Everton: More Than Just a Club

Everton: More Than Just a Club

Sophie Williams’ journey with Everton is a perfect example of what makes this club so special. From matchdays with family to unforgettable moments with Everton Women, from watching on in the stands to being involved in marketing promotion photoshoots advertising the women's team fixtures, Sophie gives her words on Everton:

For me, Everton is more than just a football club. It’s the heartbeat of my family, the thing that brings us all together. Matchdays are sacred—one of the few times we all come together, united in our love for the Blues. Whether it’s the highs of victory or the heartbreak of defeat, we experience it together. Everton isn’t just about football; it’s about connection, belonging, and memories that last a lifetime.

Friendships Forged in Blue

Some of the strongest friendships I have were made through Everton, especially within the Everton Women’s community. There’s something special about the bond between the fans, and even more so with the players, who always take time after matches to meet us. That personal touch, that sense of togetherness—it makes Everton Women feel like a family within a family.

Unforgettable Goodison Moments

Goodison Park has given me some of my best football memories. One that stands out is May 2023—Everton vs. Bournemouth. The atmosphere that day was unreal, and the pre-match march was something surreal to be part of. The relief, the sheer joy when we won to secure safety for another season, was unforgettable.

Another incredible moment was the last-ever Women’s Merseyside Derby at Goodison this season. A 1-0 win made sure Merseyside was blue once again. That day was even more special because my brother and I got to be part of the 1878 flag display—a moment of pride I’ll always cherish.

Following the Women’s Team

Although I can’t always make it to every men’s game, I never miss a home match for Everton Women, and I even get to travel to some away games. Supporting the women’s team has been an incredible experience, and I’m grateful for every game, every moment, every memory.

One of the most surreal moments of my journey as a fan was getting to take part in a photoshoot to help advertise Everton Women. Seeing myself representing the club I love was a dream come true.

Everton isn’t just about the football; it’s about the people, the experiences, and the sense of belonging. Whether it’s standing in Goodison, traveling to away games, or simply watching with family and friends, Everton has given me memories and connections that will last a lifetime. And as we say goodbye to Goodison, those moments will only become more precious.

Everton. Always.
